Watchupga West Road Rehabilitation Project To Commence

Rehabilitation works on Watchupga West Road are set to commence in the coming weeks involving reconstruction and repair of Council road infrastructure damaged by the various flood events over the past four years.

The project involves the reconstruction of approximately 550 linear meters of Watchupga West Rd., north of the Tagliabue Road intersection at Watchupga.

As part of the reconstruction, the 4m wide road pavement will be repaired providing safety and accessibility for road users.

The project will also include the reconstruction of 1.5m wide crushed rock shoulders on both sides of the road and reform of the existing swale drains.

The rehabilitation of Watchupga West Road involves reusing materials from the current pavement by recycling and reusing existing pavement where possible.

The result being a reconstructed pavement, re-sealed and repaired drainage infrastructure returning the road to functional and safe condition for the community.

• Construction contract awarded to Berne Flemming Civil
• Works expected to take about 4 weeks (weather permitting)
• Road closed to through traffic during construction
• Detours and signage will be in place

Council thanks community for patience and understanding.The Rehabilitation Project is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
