Let’s say “Well done!” as Buloke celebrates local achievements this coming Australia Day Eve.
Following on from the successful Australia Day Eve events held previously at Wycheproof and Birchip, Council is planning an occasion to remember with Nullawil’s historic Auchmore Museum playing host in 2021.
Working in tandem with the Nullawil Progress Association and Nullawil Historical Society to deliver the event, Council has received $21,000 in grants through the National Australia Day Council Covid Safe Program to ensure event is safely presented.
As COVID-19 conditions become clearer, the night is shaping up to be a stellar occasion!
The evening, which is open to all Buloke residents, will include presentation of Council’s Australia Day Awards, a Citizenship Ceremony to welcome our newest Australians, plus a representative from the Australian Ambassador Program will share their thoughts on the 2021 message of “Reflect. Respect. Celebrate”.
The night will be punctuated by guest speaker, Wycheproof born and bred, Mervyn Keane who is sure to draw a large crowd as he shares his thoughts on life and football.
The three-time premiership player, Team of the Century Member at Richmond, and AFL Life Member, Merv, who is now an emerging biographer, will be happy to re-acquaint with locals and reminisce about past times.
Mayor Cr Daryl Warren is looking forward to the January event.
“This will be a fantastic event, held at one of Buloke’s best kept secrets. We have received strong nominations for Council’s awards again, showing the depth of Buloke’s endeavours, despite the restraints of the past year.
We are very excited to be holding the event in Nullawil and of course we are planning as well for an online delivery of the event, should restrictions at the time not allow us to gather on the night”, he said.
Keep an eye out for more details on Buloke’s special night - coming soon!
