Step Up To Summer Activity

Publish Date: 18 December 2020

It’s time to get off the couch and factor in some fitness this summer as holiday festivities unfold!

We’ve moved from lockdown to liberation, so now is the time to slip on the sunnies, embrace the warmth and engage in some health based self-reclamation.

While the recent “Buloke Girls Can” program was a big winner for local women, similar principles apply to the gents to get up, get out and get fit, at a pace and level manageable to each individual.

The program was an initiative of the Buloke Shire Council and supported by VicHealth, Mallee Sports Assembly, Neighbourhood House and participating fitness instructors.

So now, whether it’s a self- generated program or a group gathering, taking charge of how we manage our fitness, and ultimately our health, is important in rural communities. And, it’s something we need to do more of!

“Good health is important to all” said Buloke Mayor, Cr. Daryl Warren. “And the recent “Buloke Girls Can” program provided a great catalyst to get people active.

Council is focused on building healthy and active communities and it is initiatives such as this which help people bring fitness into their everyday lives.

“Our region is blessed with opportunities for everyone to get out, and get involved in multiple activities – from our beautiful lakes, through to our numerous sporting organisations.”

The positive feedback on the “Buloke Girls Can” initiative has circulated the message and now it’s time for everyone to take the challenge and join in!
