We're Listening

Publish Date: 12 March 2021

Buloke Shire Council is listening to its community as it undertakes a large scale community engagement project to help shape both its four year Council Plan and ten year Community Vision, Buloke Beyond 2030.

Councillors and officers have been engaging strongly with a series of listening posts in each town that have been working in tandem with mail out and online surveys.

Also staged in Wycheproof this month was a Community Forum Summit, an important planning component of the project attended by around 100 community leaders.

Whilst Council is now working with other key stakeholder groups, it is still looking for feedback from anybody who would like to help shape the future of Buloke and strengthen the four key themes:

  • Our Built and Natural Environment
  • Our Community Wellbeing
  • Our Economy
  • Our Council and Community Leadership

Mayor, Cr Daryl Warren is enthusiastic about how the project is unfolding.

“Council is a bit ahead of the curve and already has a long term vision document, as do each of our communities as a result of the Buloke 2030 project undertaken in 2018. These, alongside our soon to expire current Council Plan, have been the springboard to advocacy successes over the last four years that are having a transformative effect on our region”.

“Whilst we achieved a lot of those tangible infrastructure projects like Charlton Park, Donald Community Precinct, Lake Tyrrell Tourism Infrastructure Project and Silo Art stops as a starting point, our united vison developed not just these built and natural environs, but delivered many programs that built our community capacity. We can keep building.

“I encourage everyone to get involved in shaping our future together by taking the survey online or filling in their postcard that arrived by mail”, Cr Warren said.
