Council’s October Meeting carried a light agenda due to the caretaker period of the up-coming Local Government elections. The key agenda item was the Progress Report on the Year 4 Annual Plan.
Each year Council develops an Annual Plan to establish a series of actions, projects programs and initiatives to achieve the Council Plan 2017-2021.
This is the first quarterly update on the Year 4 Annual Plan. Amongst a range of updates, the following highlights were noted:
The meeting was the last for Cr Ellen White, as she is not contesting the upcoming elections, and it gave Council a chance to acknowledge her selfless contribution.
First elected in 2008 and the subsequent two elections, Ellen has served the Mallee Ward in exemplarily fashion. Her passion for rural communities was at the heart of all she did and all she achieved as Councillor.
She was always prepared to get out and meet with constituents and listen, and was a regular at town forum meetings across her ward.
With Buloke’s only contested election in the Lower Avoca Ward, residents should keep an eye out for the arrival of ballot packs, which were mailed out last week.
A reminder that voting closes at 6.00pm on Friday 23 October 2020, with all results at this stage scheduled to be declared by 13 November at the latest.
The minutes and documents related to this meeting will be made available on Council’s website.
The next Ordinary Meeting of Council is yet to be scheduled. Council will communicate the next date as soon as possible.
