New Pool Regulations
Have you got a backyard pool or spa?
Pool and
spa owners are required to register pools or spas with their local councils. This was initially to be done by 1 June 2020, but was extended in acknowledgement of the extra burden on families and on councils during the COVID19 pandemic.
Pools and spas built:
- on or before June 30, 1994, lodgement is now due
- between July 1, 1994 and April 30, 2010, lodgement by June 1, 2023
- built on or after May 1, 2010, lodgement by June 1, 2024.
Owners will
also be required to lodge a compliance certificate for their pool or spa
barrier every four years. These new laws
have been introduced to keep young children safe.
In addition, owners will be required to
engage a registered building surveyor or building inspector to inspect and
certify the compliance of their safety barrier every four years.
Better safety means more enjoyable
summers.
To register your pool or spa you can download the application form below or call Council's Building Department on 1300 520 520.
