Publish Date: 14 November 2019

Two Buloke Shire Councillors have had their incredible contributions to Buloke honoured.

Cr David Pollard and Cr Ellen White have each received 10 Year Councillor Service Awards from the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV).

MAV continues to recognise the contribution of all Councillors by conferring awards for long serving Councillors. Cr Pollard and Cr White were both elected in November 2008.

Cr Ruth Gstrein, Deputy President Rural for MAV and also the Deputy Mayor of Corangamite Shire Council in the state’s south west, was on hand to present the awards.

Cr David Pollard also received an MAV Emeritus Award to honour his three terms as Mayor.

“I would like to thank the MAV for their support for Councils, especially for their support of Buloke and for recognising the service that Councillors give to their community. I would also like to thank my wife Jenny for her support over the journey and the community of Buloke. We are here for the community, we are here for Buloke”, said Cr David Pollard.

Cr White was full of praise for the community in her acceptance.

“It has been a pleasure working with the Buloke communities, particularly in my ward Mallee Ward, for the last 11 years. There has been lots to challenge us in this time. Seemingly from droughts to floods, from droughts to floods. It has been the people in the Buloke Shire that have kept me here, not only because they have elected me as their representative, but because those people are really important to continuing the economic, social and cultural development of Buloke”, said Cr Ellen White.
