Buloke Shire Council Mayor, Cr Carolyn Stewart has been appointed to the 2020 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel (LGMAP) alongside Mayors from 14 other Local Government Areas.
Minister for Local Government, The Hon. Adem Somyurek, will act as Chair for each of the four meetings of the advisory panel. The role of LGMAP is to provide high level advice to the Minister on a range of legislative, regulatory, strategic and policy decisions which impact on local government.
The panel is a diverse mix of views and experience from a broad range of backgrounds which are relevant to the local government sector.
Councillor Stewart, currently in her second term as Mayor, is Buloke’s first representative on the panel since then Mayor, Cr David Pollard, served in 2017.
“I am excited by the appointment to the advisory panel and look forward to working closely with the Minister and other Mayors. It is an excellent opportunity to give a voice to Buloke in key issues and ensure the liveability and amenity of small rural shires is advanced”, said Cr Stewart.
The Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel will have its first meeting on Wednesday 26 February 2020.
