Celebrating Community Excellence at the 2025 Australia Day Buloke Awards

The Buloke Shire community came together at Wycheproof Shire Hall last Thursday evening to celebrate the 2025 Australia Day Buloke Awards.

Hosted by Buloke Shire Council, the evening recognised the outstanding efforts of local individuals and groups who have made a difference in the community.

Congratulations to all the 2025 award recipients:

Citizen of the Year - Corey Harrison

Honoured for his long-standing service to the Wycheproof community through the CFA, sporting clubs, and volunteer efforts.

Young Citizen of the Year - Keely Allan

Recognised for her leadership in youth initiatives and her contributions to the Wycheproof Youth Group.

Community Event of the Year - The Blue Tree Project

Led by Charlton Neighbourhood House, for its work promoting mental health awareness.

Guest speaker, Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir, spoke about the importance of community spirit and working together as well as sharing his connection to the region. Brodie Glen also entertained guests with live music.

“These awards are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible people in our community”, Mayor Alan Getley said.

“The dedication and passion shown by the winners and nominees is what makes Buloke such a special place. Congratulations to all involved.”
