GREEN Lake at Sea Lake is among five Buloke recreational lakes set for a vibrant summer season thanks to continued investment in pipe-line supplied recreational water supply by GWMWater.
A fresh allocation of water has just been confirmed to support Green Lake and other recreational lakes across the region for the upcoming summer season.
As part of this allocation, an additional 680 ML of high-reliability Murray and Goulburn water entitlements has been approved to supply Ouyen Lake and Green Lake, ensuring these key recreational sites remain vibrant and accessible for locals and visitors alike.
“Green Lake is a treasured part of our community and a key attraction for visitors to Sea Lake and the wider Buloke region," said Buloke Shire Council Mayor Alan Getley.
“We welcome this investment as it ensures that Green Lake remains a vibrant, accessible space for everyone to enjoy."
GWMWater has approved the transfer of up to 1,850 ML from its urban and rural water holdings to the Recreation Water Entitlement, supporting 14 popular lakes and weirs across the Wimmera Mallee region. Recreational sites within Buloke Shire at Donald Caravan Park Lake, Tchum Lake, Watchem Lake and Wooroonook Lake will also benefit directly from this allocation.
A recent study found that 10 key pipeline-supplied recreational lakes contribute $8 million annually to the regional economy.
"We deeply value this commitment, not only for the way it supports local tourism and economic activity, but also for the wellbeing benefits, adding significantly to the liveability of towns across our community," Mayor Getley added
