Buloke Shire’s newest Councillor, Cr Bronwyn Simpson was sworn in at a ceremony held in Wycheproof on Monday 23 September 2019.
Cr Simpson was elected in a countback last week to replace Cr John Shaw who resigned in August, creating a vacancy in the Lower Avoca Ward.
Born and raised in rural Victoria, Bronwyn had a sense of community and volunteerism instilled in her from a young age. Bronwyn and her husband Stephen live in the Yeungroon area and she juggles her passions of crafts and cooking with part time employment in Birchip.
Cr Simpson, who took her Oath of Office and signed a declaration to abide by the Councillor Code of Conduct, is excited by her appointment.
“I was initially very overwhelmed with the news of my election to Council. Now that I have been able to process it all, I am looking forward to a whole new challenge”, she said.
Mayor Cr Carolyn Stewart reaffirmed her congratulations to Bronwyn on being installed as Councillor.
“Congratulations to Bronwyn on being elected to Council, we as are really pleased to have her alongside us. As Councillors each of us will support Bronwyn in her transition into the role. There is a lot happening across the Shire and I am sure Bronwyn is eager to get started representing the Lower Avoca Ward and all of Buloke”, she said.
