Wycheproof Early Learning Centre Completed

Wycheproof Early Learning Centre Completed

Publish Date: 27 January 2021

The completion of the Wycheproof Early Learning Centre marks the beginning of a new era for the town’s youngest citizens and their families.

The $1.22 million project is ready for operation as the new school year begins.

Funded by the Federal Government Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources through the Drought Communities Programme – Extension ($500,000), the Victorian School Building Authority ($700,000) and the local Parents Group ($20,000), the building houses childcare, kindergarten, playground as well maternal and child health facilities.

The addition of the Early Learning Centre compliments the Wycheproof P-12 College, giving the town a precinct that can take its children on a long and rewarding educational journey.

With a capacity of 12 day care and 22 kindergarten positions the new Wycheproof Early Learning Centre has been welcomed by the Wycheproof community.

“The project has long been held as a top priority for the Wycheproof community, this one-stop-shop addresses the previous lack of childcare facilities which prevented many community members from returning to work. It is a wonderful result for all families and an important investment in the future of the town and the area”, said Mayor Cr Daryl Warren.

It is anticipated that day care will commence on 1 February 2021 with kindergarten to begin the following day.
