Wycheproof Early Years Funded

Wycheproof Early Years Funded

Publish Date: 2 March 2020

Great news for Wycheproof families with the State Government announcing they will partner with Buloke Shire Council to deliver a brand new integrated Early Years Learning Centre.

The State Government has committed $700,000 and Council is awaiting the outcome of another application for $500,000 from the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Programme.

To be located at the Wycheproof P-12 College, the new centre will offer three and four-year-old kindergarten programs, long day care, Maternal Child Health Services and a supported playgroup. The placing of the centre in this precinct will create a hub for child development in Wycheproof.

“We know that quality early childhood services give children a better start in life and that’s why we’re making unprecedented investments in the early years.”

“The Wycheproof community have been crying out for a modern early learning centre – we are helping turn this vision into a reality”, said Minister for Education James Merlino.

Buloke Shire Council Mayor Carolyn Stewart was understandably thrilled by the announcement.

“Council and community have long advocated for this facility and indeed that our communities are entitled to the same services as everyone else. To have either a new Early Years Learning Centre open or funded for building in each of our five major townships helps our families live and work in Buloke and gives us greater opportunity to attract new families to our great way of life”, she said.

Construction on the Early Years Learning Centre is expected to start this year.
