The Buloke Shire community is invited to help shape the future of their local library services as part of a Library Services Review.
The review aims to hear feedback from residents, stakeholders, library members and non-members, to ensure that the Buloke Shire library services remain accessible, sustainable, and responsive since separating from the Wimmera Regional Library Corporation in 2018.
Buloke Shire Council Mayor Alan Getley said the review is an important opportunity for the community to provide input on how library services could evolve.
“Libraries play a vital role in our communities – they are places for learning, connection, and access to important resources”, Mayor Alan Getley said.
“As technology and community needs change, we want to ensure our library services remain relevant, accessible and inclusive for everyone in Buloke Shire”.
Community members are encouraged to share their experiences and ideas via a survey open now until 9 March 2025.
The online survey is available via Council’s ‘Have your Say’ webpage at www.buloke.vic.gov.au
Hard copies of the survey are also available at the Buloke Community Libraries in Charlton, Birchip, Donald, Sea Lake and Wycheproof, the Wycheproof Customer Service Centre and the from the Mobile Library Service.
Pop-up community consultations will also be held across the Buloke Shire from 24 February to 5 March 2025. Full details on times and locations are available via www.buloke.vic.gov.au/buloke-shire-council-library-service-review
Feedback received via the survey and pop-up consultations will help guide future changes and improvements to Buloke Community Library Services which may include library facilities, increasing digital access, and enhancing programs and services.
The final report, informed by community input, will be presented to Council in April 2025.
