CULGOA is set to receive a vibrant new welcome, with township signage currently in production thanks to funding from the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns Fund.
The new signage for the township entrances and tourist signage throughout the town on Culgoa's history will celebrate Culgoa’s unique identity and help guide visitors to the heart of the town’s hospitality and charm.
The installation date is yet to be confirmed.Despite being bypassed by the highway, Culgoa has carved out a reputation for quality country hospitality, drawing steady trade to its main street through word-of-mouth, social media and repeat visitation.
The town’s active community, local businesses and grassroots pride have made it a standout example of what’s possible when small towns think about customer experiences and simple but targeted approaches to promotion.
“Signage is more than just a welcome — it’s a statement of place,” said Mayor Cr Alan Getley.
“It helps visitors connect with the story of Culgoa and encourages them to stop, explore and the promotion value is significant.”
Research shows that well-designed township signage can become a photo hotspot, boosting a town’s visibility online and contributing to tourism growth.
This kind of organic promotion can translate into real economic benefits for small communities.
The Tiny Towns Fund, a program designed to support tourism and community infrastructure in towns with populations under 5,000, is administered by Regional Development Victoria.
It has supported hundreds of projects across the state with Culgoa’s signage project being part of this broader effort to enhance liveability, strengthen community connections and attract more visitors to regional Victoria.
"Council is proud to support this initiative — Culgoa is another example of how our region continues to show how small communities can achieve big things," the Mayor added.
