Buloke Stands with BGLC on Racism

Buloke Stands with BGLC on Racism

Publish Date: 29 June 2022

Buloke Shire Council stands with Barengi Gadjin Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BGLC) in calling out racism after a racist attack with offensive graffiti on a Welcome to Wotjobaluk Country sign in our Shire.

Racism has no place in our communities. No excuses.

Actions such as these are unacceptable. It is deeply offensive that on the eve of NAIDOC Week, commencing 3 July, that BGLC board members and staff and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been subjected to such deliberate damage.

Buloke Shire Council is working hard in growing our relationships with traditional owners and this includes BGLC and Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation.

Council is working alongside BGLC and the Department of Transport in response to the abhorrent vandalism and will continue to support and be guided by BGLC in aftermath of the attack.
