Buloke Shire Council is open for, and importantly now, open to business! Council will mark the launch of the Better Approvals Project and the formalisation of its commitment to the Small Business Charter with an event to be held at the newly completed Charlton Park from 6.30pm on Thursday 7 November 2019.
Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Strategy identified a need for there to be an ‘all of Council’ approach to Economic Development and the Better Approvals Project is delivering on that objective. Better Approvals has seen a number of different departments come together to improve the process for small businesses to receive approvals to operate in the Buloke Shire.
The project will deliver a single application form for all regulatory permits and provide permit support through the provision of a permit support officer. The officer will liaise with the various departments on behalf of the business to assist them to navigate the process.
Business owners can expect improved information on Councils website on what to expect with permits and the process so that businesses feel well informed.
At its September Ordinary Meeting, Council resolved to sign on to the Small Business Charter and support our small business community across a number of areas by:
· Working with businesses who are impacted by infrastructure projects
· Supporting the creation of small business networks across Victoria
· Faster permit approvals for small businesses
· Prompt payment to small businesses, and
· Easy to understand information for small businesses
Small Business Commissioner Judy O’Connell will be in attendance to sign the Small Business Charter alongside Mayor Cr Carolyn Stewart and Chief Executive Officer Anthony Judd and all businesses are invite to attend the launch.
