2020 Australia Day Celebrations Across Buloke

Buloke Shire Celebration

6.00pm - 9.00pm Friday 24 January 2020 at the Birchip Community Leisure Centre.

This event features the awarding of Council’s Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Event of the Year awards as well as a Citizenship Ceremony and Special Guest Speaker, Scott Chapman who is the CEO of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Victoria).

This event is open to the public and free to attend with a casual dinner available from 6.00pm.

Australia Day Ambassadors

Three Australia Day Ambassadors will visit Buloke in 2020.

Damian Brown is an inspiring personality with outstanding sporting success, representing Australia in weightlifting at three Olympic Games, four Commonwealth Games and competing in a world-record 12 consecutive World Championships. His contribution to the nation’s sporting success saw him awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000. Damian will appear in Donald and Wycheproof.

Betty Kitchener AM is a mental health researcher and educator. She developed the innovative Mental Health First Aid training program which revolutionised how support is provided to people experiencing mental illness. The program has since been embraced internationally with more than a million people trained. Betty will appear in Sea Lake.

Claude Lombard OAM has been a fixture of Victoria’s business community for the better part of half a century. His leadership of Lombard The Paper People has led the business through fifty years of challenges and opportunities to become one of Australia’s largest suppliers of party, packaging and events products. Claude will appear in Birchip.
