Buloke Shire Council joins our community in mourning the tragic loss of Layla Jeffery.
On behalf of the Mayor, Councillors and staff, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Layla's family, friends, classmates, teachers and everyone affected by this devastating loss.
This tragedy has deeply impacted our community. We recognise that many people may be experiencing grief, sadness, shock or distress, particularly young people, families, school communities and those who knew Layla personally.
We thank Victoria Police, emergency services personnel and everyone involved in the search and response for their professionalism, compassion and dedication during this difficult time.
Council is working with partner agencies to support the wellbeing of our community and will continue to assist where needed.
We respectfully ask everyone to respect the privacy of Layla's family, her school community and all those affected as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.

Community Memorial
There is currently a memorial site in place at the Bullock’s Head Lookout on the Richardson River in Donald to lay flowers in memory of Layla. This site is being maintained routinely by Council.
