Aquatic Strategy

The Buloke Aquatic Strategy 2026-2036 sets a clear direction for the future of aquatic facilities and services across Buloke Shire. Developed in response to meeting community needs, ageing infrastructure and increasing operational costs, the Strategy provides a long-term framework to help Council manage, maintain and enhance aquatic opportunities for residents and visitors over the next decade.

Swimming pools have long been an important part of community life in Buloke Shire, providing places for recreation, exercise, social connection, learning and relief during the warmer months. Through consultation with residents, schools, user groups and key stakeholders, Council gained valuable insights into how aquatic facilities are used today and how they can continue to meet community needs into the future.

The Strategy recognises the significant role aquatic facilities play in supporting health, wellbeing and community participation, while also acknowledging the challenges associated with maintaining a network of ageing pools across a large rural municipality. It outlines a balanced approach that focuses on maintaining existing facilities, improving accessibility and safety, expanding programming opportunities and exploring sustainable service delivery models.

The Buloke Aquatic Strategy was adopted at the 16 September 2026 Council meeting.
