Heavy Plant Operator (Road Services)

from $33.03 per hour plus statutory superannuation

Permanent Full Time Position

Council is seeking a self-motivated individual, responsible for the safe and efficient use of heavy road plant, operating as part of our Road Services crew.

In this position you will: 

Carry out routine, preventative maintenance and improvements to local Council roads to ensure safe local road networks in accordance with Council’s Road Management Plan. 
Demonstrated experience in performing a wide variety of duties and tasks including, civil and earthmoving works, road maintenance and construction, civil infrastructure and assets upgrades, improvements, and renewals. 

To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Routinely inspecting and maintaining local roads to ensure Council provides a safe road network and to satisfy the provisions of Council’s Road Management Plan. 
  • Routinely inspecting and maintaining urban and rural drainage systems.\Operating heavy sized mechanical plant to carry out road repairs and material movement on road works and civil projects.
  • Maintaining functional infrastructure to support traffic and pedestrians in business/ commercial areas.
  • Undertaking routine maintenance on Council controlled work-sites.
  • Providing and maintaining good record keeping and documentation for road maintenance.
  • Carrying out all other duties as reasonably requested in accordance with Council’s policies and the functional requirements of the Infrastructure and Delivery department. 
  • The holder of a current Heavy Rigid Driver Licence, or willing to obtain one at your own expense within three months (a Heavy Combination Licence is desirable).
  • The holder of a Construction Induction Card.
