PROPOSED GOVERNANCE RULES 2025
What are Governance Rules?
Under Section 60 of the Local Government Act 2020 a Council must develop, adopt and enforce Governance Rule with govern the conduct of Council meetings. A Council may amend its Governance Rules, however prior to considering any proposed amendments, a Council must first ensure that a process of community engagement is undertaken. Buloke Shire Council is seeking public consultation and feedback from the community on the proposed changes to Council’s Governance Rules.
Proposed Changes
At its Council Meeting held on 18 December 2024, Council resolved to:
· Commence community engagement in relation to the Draft Governance Rules;
· Allow submissions in writing in relation on any proposal contained within the Draft Governance Rules; and
· Allow presentations in support of written submissions to be heard at the Council Meeting on 19 March 2025
The draft proposed Governance Rules have been developed by an external consultant in consultation with Council staff with the intent to establish a more contemporary set of rules in line with changes to industry standards.

How to Participate
Members of the public are invited to make written submissions on the Draft Governance Rules by 4.00pm 5 March 2025. Those who have made a written submission are requested to indicate if they wish to make a verbal submission at the Council Meeting to be held from 7:00pm on 19 March 2025.
Submissions received by Council, after removing any personal information, may be included within the relevant Council Meeting Agenda.
