Introductory Summary
Buloke Shire Council is undertaking a municipality-wide Flood Study to improve flood mapping, planning tools and flood management outcomes across the Shire. Community input is a vital part of the project. Residents are invited to share their local knowledge, flood experiences and observations to help build a better understanding of flood behaviour across Buloke Shire. This information will contribute to future flood preparedness, emergency planning and community resilience.
Project Overview
The Flood Study will provide an updated understanding of flood risks and flood behaviour across Buloke Shire to support informed decision-making and improved community safety.
The study will:
- Develop updated flood studies and flood management plans
- Improve flood modelling, including climate change scenarios
- Assess options to reduce flood risk
- Review existing flood mitigation infrastructure
- Update flood warning systems and emergency management plans
The outcomes of the study will help Council, emergency services and the community better prepare for future flood events.
