Community Grants Program
The Buloke Shire Community Grants Program provides funding to support community-led projects that strengthen the wellbeing, vitality and resilience of our communities.
Funded through the Coonooer Bridge Wind Farm Payment in Lieu of Rates, the program assists local organisations to deliver projects that create lasting community benefits and enhance opportunities for residents across Buloke Shire.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are welcome from not-for-profit incorporated organisations, or groups auspiced by an incorporated organisation, that:
Hold Public Liability Insurance of at least $20 million.
Deliver projects within Buloke Shire, or projects that directly benefit the Buloke Shire community.
What Can Be Funded?
Funding may be provided for projects that:
- Address an identified community need.
- Develop, improve or enhance community facilities.
- Increase community participation through programs, activities or equipment.
- Support co-contributions towards external grant-funded projects.
Funding Available
$70,000 is available over the two grant rounds. Community Grants of up to $5,000 (including GST) are available.
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be assessed on their ability to:
- Demonstrated community need
- Increased participation opportunities
- Broad or multi-use community benefit
- Alignment with relevant plans or strategies
- Financial capacity to deliver the project

Key Dates
Applications are accepted year-round and assessed through two funding rounds each year.
Round 1
Opens: 1 Sept
Closes: 13 Oct
Notifications: By 30 November
Round 2
Opens: 1 February
Closes: 14 March
Notifications: By 30 April
How to Apply
Before applying, please ensure you have:
- Public Liability Insurance certificate ($20 million minimum)
- Quotes for project expenses
- Details of any in-kind contributions
- A recent bank statement
Applications must be submitted through the SmartyGrants portal.
