Container Deposit Scheme

16 November 2023

This National Recycling Week we are highlighting the importance of recycling in our community. There are two refund points within Buloke Shire situated at the Charlton Newsagency and the Donald Newsagency where you can return your eligible drink containers into 10 cent refund each!

The scheme is funded by the beverage industry, and once returned, the containers become material for recycling.

CDS Vic will accept containers similar to those included in existing schemes across Australia. Most 150ml to 3 litre drink containers are eligible for a 10 cent refund – provided they are made from glass, plastic, aluminium, steel or liquid paperboard (the material often used for small juice drinks, or soy milk containers etc). These are the containers most regularly consumed on the go and found in the litter stream.

Look for the ‘10c’ mark on the container to see if it is eligible for a refund. If there is a 10 cent mark, then you should be able to return the drink container, provided it is in good condition (uncrushed, empty and with the label and barcode intact).
