The Buloke Shire is located in North Western Victoria, occupying an area of 8,001 square kilometres and with an estimated resident population of 7,051(ABS) - almost 1 person per square kilometre! The main townships within the shire: Birchip, Charlton, Donald, Sea Lake and Wycheproof, offer a comprehensive range of health, education and recreational facilities. The Buloke Shire Council has an office in each of the main towns. This ensures provision of a wide range of services within easy access to the community. Each office offers customer service as well as specialist functions. Agriculture is the primary source of both income and employment in the area, with grain production the major industry.
